David Kay joined Sunrise Equity Investors in 2006
following his role as Director of Research and Marketing for
Capital Institutional Services (CAPIS), an institutional
brokerage firm based in Dallas. At CAPIS, Mr. Kay managed a
network of over 400 research vendors, representing
approximately $55 million in annual revenues. He directed
the implementation of the firm's marketing efforts and
coordinated the dissemination of the firm's daily research,
collaborating with 12 sales traders and nine independent
research analysts.
Prior to his role at CAPIS, Mr. Kay was an Associate at
Merger Partners Inc., a boutique buy-side mergers and
acquisitions advisory firm. Mr. Kay analyzed acquisition
targets and contributed to the due diligence process on
behalf of his firm's private equity clients. During his
tenure at Merger Partners, Mr. Kay also sourced transactions
in the manufacturing, service and consumer product
industries.
David completed his MBA in finance from the University of
Texas at Austin in 2003. His graduate work included
internships with the Private Markets Group of UTIMCO, G-51
Capital Management and the Texas Venture Capital Fellows
Program. Prior to graduate school, Mr. Kay served for six
years as a senior advisor to two Members of Congress in
Washington, D.C. Mr. Kay advised on agriculture, commerce,
defense, financial services, telecommunications, trade and
transportation related matters before the U.S. House of
Representatives. Mr. Kay graduated from Tulane University in
1995, with a Bachelor of Arts in History, and is a Level III
Candidate in the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Program.
